A source close to the film told Silverscreen, “The three actors were approached with the script and they have listened to the character sketch. All reports about their part are speculations as of now, nothing has been finalised.”

The source also said that reports about Kajal Aggarwal being replaced by one of them are false, and Kajal is already on board. It is speculated that she stars opposite Kamal Haasan, who reprises his role as Senapathy from the original 1996 film. The makers are looking out for a second female lead to star opposite Siddharth, who reportedly plays Senapathy’s son in the film.

Priya Bhavani Shankar, Aishwarya Rajesh and Rakul Preet Singh are busy with a number of films currently. Priya has Mafia, Kasada Thapara, Vaan, a film with Jiiva and Arulnithi, and Vikram 58. Aishwarya has over ten films under production, including SK16, Kousalya Krishnamurthy and Mei. Rakul Preet Singh has Manmadhudu 2, Marjaavaan and SK14.

The spokesperson for Indian 2 confirmed last week that the team will begin shoot in August as planned, “We are in the process of organising everyone’s schedules right now,” he said.

Indian 2 was scheduled to begin in January, but faced delays due to Kamal’s political commitments and later due to Bigg Boss 3, hosted by him. It was reported by Asianet News recently that Kamal has asked the team to start shooting, saying that he will be available during his portions. Anirudh Ravichander is on board for music. The film is produced by Lyca Productions.

Meanwhile, director Shankar has planned a sequel of Mudhalvan 2 and is reportedly in talks with Vijay to play the Chief Minister, and Arjun Sarja, who starred as the one-day CM in the previous film as the villain. Sources confirm that work on the film will being only after Indian 2.

Kamal Haasan has also announced his next film – Thalaivan Irukkindraan, a big-budget film that was shelved earlier, but has been revived.
