Nithya Menen, who was roped in to replace Jyothika in Atlee’s Vijay 61, is reportedly playing his mother. The film will have actor Vijay in triple roles, likely to be set in different timelines. Since Nithya is one of the three actresses in the film, it is speculated that she will play his wife in one timeline, and his mother in the other – much like Suriya’s 24 last year.
Nithya joined the sets of the film a week after Jyothika reportedly walked out of the shoot. According to a source close to the film unit, Jyothika wanted a few changes to be made to the script and she was not happy with the way her role was written. As this demand did not go down too well with the film’s makers, things did not work out.

While details of the film haven’t been disclosed yet, there have been reports that the parts featuring Nithya and Vijay will likely be completed soon.
Apart from Nithya, the two other female leads are Kajal Aggarwal and Samantha Ruth Prabhu. The project will also have actor Sathyaraj and comedians Sathyan and Vadivelu among others. SJ Suryah has been roped in to play the antagonist in the film.
AR Rahman has also been roped in for music, with Sri Thenandal Films producing it.
