The teaser of Mr. Local – the Sivakarthikeyan-Nayanthara starrer was released today, on Sivakarthikeyan’s birthday. The film is expected to release on May 1. The teaser hints at a film that is a comic, commercial entertainer.

Directed by Rajesh M, the teaser opens with the protagonist Manohar in a fight. After he lands a punch or two, he introduces himself, “I am Manohar, people call Mr.Local with love”. Then we see Lady Superstar Nayanthara asking us, “Do you know who I am?”, reminding us of Vijayashanthi in Rajinikanth’s Mannan. Yogi Babu and Sathish bringing in the comedy elements. Yogi Babu says of Sivakarthikeyan, “He is always like that! He will never let anyone else speak.” In classic Tamil cinema fashion, the hero and heroine have major conflicts and heated arguments and fights, but soon Nayanthara falls for the hero. The overall teaser falls within the usual genre of Rajesh’s films such as Siva Manasula Sakthi, Boss Engira Baskaran and Oru Kal Oru Kannadi. The movie also stars Radhika Sarathkumar and RJ Balaji.
It was first reported that Mr.Local may be a remake of actor Nani’s Telugu hit Nenu Local. However, director Rajesh denied it, and said that the film was loosely based Vasu’s Mannan, starring Rajinikanth, Khushboo, and Vijayshanthi.
