Actor Jayaram, through a Facebook post, announced that Mohanlal and Mammootty will jointly start the production of his new movie Grandfather. The superstar duo will be lighting the lamp at the pooja ceremony of the movie on December 3.

Directed by Aneesh Anwar and produced by Haseeb Haneef under the banner of Achicha Cinema, Grandfather features Jayaram in the titular role.
Oozham fame Divya Pillai plays the female lead in Grandfather while Surabhi Santhosh, who was seen in Kuttanadan Marpappa and Kinavalli, is also a part of the movie. The movie also features Anusree, Hareesh Kanaran, Dharmajan Bolgatty Baiju and director Johny Antony.
According to a News18 report, Grandfather will feature Anusree not as the female lead but in a prominent role. The actress was last seen in the role of an autorickshaw driver in cinematographer turned director Sujith Vaassudev’s Ottorsha which released last month. The actress also had a prominent role in Pranav Mohanlal’s Aadi which released earlier this year. Grandfather marks the actor’s third collaboration with Jayaram this year after Daivame Kaithozham K.Kumar Akanam and Panchavarnathatha.

The technical crew of Grandfather comprises of cinematographer Sameer Haq and composer Vishnu Mohan Sithara. The story of Grandfather has been penned by Shani Khadar who has scripted movies like Seconds and Popcorn in the past.
The movie marks Jayaram’s first collaboration with director Aneesh Anwar. Grandfather is Anwar’s fifth directorial venture. He has directed movies like Mullamottum Munthiricharum, Zachariyayude Garbhinikal, Kumbasaram and Basheerinte Premalekhanam.
Last seen in the Ramesh Pisharody directed Panchavarnathatha, Jayaram plays a middle-aged man in Leo Thaddeus’ Lonappante Mamodeesa that is gearing up for a Christmas release.
Meanwhile, reports have emerged that Vijay Seuthupati is gearing up to make his Malayalam debut opposite Jayaram. The movie will be directed by cinematographer Sajan Kalathil.
