J.D.Chakravorthy, Siddique, Sudev Nair, Jayaprakash, Kishore, Suraj Venjaramoodu… thus goes the line-up of the supporting cast of Nivin Pauly’s new movie Mikhael. The movie is directed by Haneef Adeni who previously directed Mammootty’s 2017 movie The Great Father.

Nivin Pauly’s titular character is a doctor – an angel in the mortal man’s world and a reason why his character is called Mikhael, an angel according to the Bible. His character comes across as someone who has been wronged and is out for revenge. The talk about how nothing can replace one’s parents, the bruised face and the fight scene with a police officer point to this.

The names of the characters, disclosed through a series of posters earlier, go a long way in telling the viewer about the milieu of the movie. With names like Marco Jr and Francis Davi, it can be assumed that the story is set in an Anglo Indian backdrop. The scenes involving Christian elements such as cemetery and coffin and the dialogues about sin and redemption further establish this notion.

The trailer also makes it a point to allot enough screen time for Unni Mukundan’s antagonist character Marco Jr. The actor was last seen in Chanakyathanthram where he dressed up as a woman.

Manjima Mohan plays the female lead in the movie. The actress is featured in one scene. That and taking into account the fact that the movie is an action flick, it would be safe not to expect much prominence for her character.

Mikhael is going to be an important film for Nivin Pauly as the movie attempts to pitch the actor as an action star. Though the actor had done action in last year’s Kayamkulam Kochunni, the movie was a historical and was plot driven. With Mikhael, the actor’s mass appeal would be put to test.

The last time the actor tried something similar was with Richie which failed to elicit a good response at the box office. The actor would be making his Bollywood debut with Moothon – a bilingual directed by the National Award winning director Geethu Mohandas.

Mikhael has been produced by Anto Joesph. Gopi Sundar composes the music for the movie.
