Actress and Bigg Boss 3 contestant Meera Mitun has signed up for director Naveen’s Agni Siragugal, the film starring Arun Vijay, Vijay Antony and Shalini Pandey in the lead. She recently also joined Pandiraj’s Sivakarthikeyan-starrer Namma Veetu Pillai for an important role.
The actress told Silverscreen, “I met T Siva sir of Amma Creations (the film’s producer) and confirmed my part soon after I left Bigg Boss. I was approached with the script before I left but had not given my confirmation. I have a role with impact in the film, and it’s not that of a typical heroine. It’s a character I relate to. I’m very excited to start shooting.”
She added that she’s confident more opportunities were coming her way. “I used to wait to hear a script with a power-packed role, and I’m now sure that more such films will come my way. Bigg Boss has given me that reach.”
Director Naveen said two schedules of Agni Sirugugal were completed in Kolkatta, and the shoot will resume in Europe next month. “There have been delays because the stunt team required time to train the actors. We approached Meera as her role needed someone flexible, and she is also gymnast. The story is an action thriller centered on Vijay Antony, Shalini Pandey and Arun Vijay’s characters. All three of them take the plot forward and the film will show them in different roles.”
The film also stars Prakash Raj, Jagapati Babu and Nasser in important roles.
Meanwhile, Meera has also confirmed that she is part of Namma Veetu Pillai starring Sivakarthikeyan, Aishwarya Rajesh, Anu Emmanuel and others, and shared the first-look poster on Twitter recently. She said, “This is also performance-oriented role, and I believe both the films are going to be a big break in my career.”

Pitched as a rural family entertainer, Namma Veetu Pillai is set in Karaikudi and Theni and stars Sivakarthikeyan reportedly as Aishwarya Rajesh’s brother in the lead, and Anu Emmanuel as his lover. Natty, Bharathirajaa, Samuthirakani, RK Suresh, Soori and Yogi Babu are also part of the cast. The film is scheduled for release on September 27.
Meera Mitun was one of the most talked about Bigg Boss contestants this season. She is also a model, and started her acting career in Tamil cinema with 8 Thottakkal and Thaanaa Serndha Koottam.
