Amitabh Bachchan took to social media to make a pledge for Independence Day. The 73 year old actor tweeted :

The actor also retweeted a quote by actor/comedian Radhika Vaz – “A woman’s body is not a democracy, it’s a dictatorship, and its about time the dictator took charge”
Pink deals with the issue of increasing sexual assault of women in the country. The trailer of the film was released on the 9th of August. At the launch event, Bachchan stressed on the importance of educating the people about respecting women. “The base is somewhere we are losing respect for the female gender. And that can be remedied through education, and through films like Pink to give them the respect and honour and their right place in the society. That’s what we are all working towards. It will take time but it will happen.” he said.
Produced by Shoojit Sircar, Ronnie Lahiri and Rashmi Sharma, Pink is directed by Bengali director Aniruddha Roy Chaudhary and has Taapsee Pannu in a major role. The film releases on the 16 September.
