Andrrews directed Manju Warrier’s comeback movie in 2014, How Old Are You, which launched the actor’s dynamic second innings in films. His last film was a big-budget period drama Kayamkulam Kochunni, in which Nivin Pauly played the lead role. Gokulam Gopalan, industrialist-film producer who bankrolled Kayamkulam Kochunni, is the producer of Prathi Poovan Kozhi. The film will have music by Gopi Sunder.

Manju Warrier recently completed shooting for Sanal Kumar Sasidharan’s Ahr/Kayattam, which she is co-producing with Aruna Mathew and Shaji Mathew of Niv Art Movies (which produced Sasidharan’s Sexy Durga). Sasidharan is attending the Venice Film Festival, where his film Chola has been selected in the Orizzonti’ competition category that runs parallel to the main section. He has handled multiple portfolios in Kayattam, including script, editing and sound design. In August, during the floods in Himachal Pradesh, Manju Warrier and the 30-member crew of Kayattam were stranded in a mountain village. They were later safely rescued by a team of officials.

Unni R, who has been screenwriter for hits such as Charlie and Big B, had started writing the script based on Prathi Poovan Kozhi as early as 2017. The project was, then, supposed to be helmed by  Gireesh Mano of Njee Ko Nja Cha fame. A Times Of India report from 2017 quotes Unni as saying, “The film will feature newcomers in the lead roles and begin its shoot by September. It will be a contemporary satire set against the backdrop of a village in Kottayam.” However, the project didn’t take off. Later, it was revived with a new team.
