La La Land & Moonlight Lead Golden Globe Nominations

La La Land, the musical starring Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone, has won seven Golden Globe nominations this year. Categories it has been nominated in include Best Director, Screenplay, Best Actor, and Best Actress. The film, directed by Damien Chazelle, is a frontrunner to sweep this year’s Oscars.

Moonlight, a drama about a young black man growing up in a poor Miami neighborhood, won six nominations, and promises to be tough competition for La La Land. Moonlight won nominations for Best Drama, Best Director, and Best Screenplay.

Manchester By The Sea, the story of a New England plumber coping with horrific loss, has also been nominated in six categories, including Best Drama.

Other candidates for the Best Drama award include Lion, a story about adoption set in India, Mel Gibson’s Hacksaw Ridge, which is based on the true story of the World War II hero Desmond T Doss, and the CBS Films neo-western Hell or High Water.
