The latest update on actor Dhanush’s Asuran is that Ken Karunas, son of comedian Karunas, will be part of the film. Dhanush, who has teamed up with Vetrimaaran once again for a thriller, began shoot for the film recently.
According to a report, Ken Karunas has a crucial role in the film. He was earlier seen in Nedunchaalai and Azhagu Kutti Chellam. As announced, popular Malayalam actress Manju Warrier will play the female lead. The film is produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu, the producers of Dhanush’s VIP 2. Music is composed by GV Prakash Kumar. The rest of the cast and crew are yet to be revealed.
Early in January, the actor unveiled a poster of the film. He was seen looking rougher than in his other roles in films like Aadukalam and Vada Chennai. The film went on floors recently, after the release of the poster with Dhanush and Manju Warrier in a retro look.
It is said that the makers are planning to complete shoot in a long, single schedule. The film is also reportedly a break from the Vada Chennai series, in which Dhanush plays an accidental gangster. Shoot for Vada Chennai 2 is expected to resume after the completion of Asuran.

About the film, Thanu told Silverscreen, “I really enjoyed Vetrimaaran’s previous movies including Vada Chennai and Visaaranai. That is why I chose to do this new film. Anyway, Dhanush and I had been discussing about making a film for a long time now. When this story came to me, I immediately got on board.”
Asuran is the 71st film for GV Prakash as a music director. For Dhanush and Vetrimaaran, this is the fourth film together after their successful Pollathavan, Aadukalam and Vada Chennai.
