Keerthy Suresh, in her recent interview, has said that she feels Thodari could have been better. The film, with Dhanush and Keerthy in the lead roles, released earlier this month to mixed reviews. From all accounts, the movie has not had much success at the box office.
The actress distanced herself from the project and revealed that she signed on for it only because of the ‘innocent role’ she was offered. “I signed the film mainly for the innocent character I played. I had to act like a Malayali who didn’t know Tamil — and it was difficult. So I had to transcribe my lines in Malayalam. But I think the movie could have been better in other aspects,” she said.
Keerthy is the daughter of former actress Menaka and noted Malayalam film producer Suresh Kumar. The actress bagged Thodari at a time when she was still a fresher in the industry. Her casting in a Dhanush film contributed to her meteoric rise to fame, in a way. Shortly after this, Keerthy signed on to be a part of Sivakarthikeyan’s Remo and Vijay’s Bairavaa, both big-budget projects.
Keerthy made her acting debut with a starring role in Priyadarshan’s Malayalam language film, Geethanjali. She won critical acclaim for her role in the movie. A short while later, she signed on to be a part of Director Vijay’s Idhu Enna Maayam, and Sivakarthikeyan – Ponram’s Rajini Murugan.
