Katthukutti, directed by debutante R Saravanan, released last Friday to positive reviews, with a theme around the methane extraction project and the response of the farmers. Now, the team has arranged a gratitude meet, where they expressed their happiness over the Tamil Nadu Government’s decision to ban methane extraction in the state. “We wouldn’t claim that we were the reason behind the government’s decision, but we are happy that the film might be one of the reasons,” said Saravanan.

Soori, who acted in a supporting role in the film, said that of all the movies he has worked in, Kathukutti was the one that gave him the most satisfaction, as it was aimed at the well-being of villagers and farmers. He also expressed his disappointment over the lack of feedback on his performance from his friends in the industry. He said that even though Kathukutti was getting good word-of-mouth publicity, his friends hadn’t yet seen it.
