Actress Pragya Jaiswal, who will soon be seen in filmmaker Krish’s romantic war-drama Kanche, was originally considered to be paired with Akshay Kumar in Gabbar Is Back. Apparently, she even auditioned for the heroine role in the film, which was a remake of Tamil hit, Ramanna. Since the makers of Gabbar Is Back eventually decided to go ahead with an established actress, Pragya lost the opportunity to work with Akshay Kumar.
Soon after Gabbar Is Back, it was director Krish, who approached Pragya and asked if she would be interested in working with him in Kanche, and she immediately gave her consent. Kanche, which is set against the backdrop of World War II, also stars Varun Tej and Srinivasa Avasarala in important roles.
