A statement released by the makers said that the actress might gain a special place in Tamil cinema with her performance in this film. According to a report, Anjali was studying in Pune while shooting for the film. She was later employed as an air hostess, and she said that it was exciting to be working in both fields.

Nedunalvaadai looks at the relationship between a man and his 70-year-old grandfather (Poo Ramu), and how things change with his grandfather and others after he falls in love with the character played by Anjali Nair.

Talking about the film, the director said, “In everyone’s life, there will be someone who sacrificed things for us. For me it was my friends, and that is this story. Those who see this film would have lived such a life, or would have longed to live such a life. 75 percent of the film is based on real life incidents. I saw Poo Ram as my grandfather throughout the film. The production for the film started 2 years back and faced delays due to various reasons.”

Saying that his film was different from other films that were shot in Tirunelveli, director Selvakannan told Times Of India: “There have been many action films set in Tirunelveli, but I don’t think any Tamil film has explored its nativity and way of life. My film is based in Tirunelveli, and I’ve shot it entirely there. Since I’m also from that place, it became easier for me.”
