Indu Sarkar Trailer Misleading, Says Woman Claiming To Be Sanjay Gandhi’s Daughter

A woman who has claimed she is the daughter of late Sanjay Gandhi has said that the trailer of Indu Sarkar is misleading and grossly misinterprets her father. According to an IANS report, Priya Singh Paul says: “I was shocked to see the trailer of the movie, which is so misleading. In one scene, a man resembling Sanjay Gandhi says ‘Ye sarkar chaabuk (whip) se chalti hai’, and in the very next scene, a woman is shown being whipped in prison and later raped… which is completely misleading depiction of Sanjay Gandhi who I once met and found a very gentle being, and from accounts I have heard from people who knew him.”

Priya also said that a legal notice has been sent to the film’s director, Madhur Bhandarkar, pointing out the same issue. Priya, a media professional, is said to have been adopted by Shiela Singh Paul and Balwant Paul in 1968, the year she was born. Union Minister Maneka Gandhi, wife of the late politician, and son Varun Gandhi, are yet to react to these claims.

Indu Sarkar is a period drama that revolves around Emergency. The movie stars Kirti Kulhari, Neil Nitin Mukesh and Anupam Kher in the lead.

Bhandarkar, a National-award winning director, took to Twitter to address the issues he has been facing. These include censorship cuts, politicians wanting a special screening of the movie, and more.
