CV Kumar on ‘Indru Netru Naalai 2’: I Usually Think Of A Sequel Even While Working On A Film

Now, the cast of the sequel has officially been announced, and Vishnu Vishal and Karunkaran, who starred in the original, will reprise their roles from the original.  A source close to the production unit said talks were on regarding the lead actress and other cast and crew details would be announced in a week’s time. The sequel has been written by Ravikumar and will be directed by his associate SP Karthic.

The film, produced by CV Kumar and directed by Ravikumar, starred Vishnu Vishal as Elango, Karunakaran as Pulivetti Arumugam, TM Karthik as the whacky scientist Parthasarathy alias Pazham and Mia George as Anu. Both critics and the audience lapped up the film that married logic, science, drama and humour, and the screenplay ensured even repeat watches were never boring.

Speaking to Silverscreen, CV Kumar said: “I usually think of a sequel or a franchise even while working on a film, and Indru Netru was no different.” He tweeted last evening about the film, and Vishnu Vishal was quick to react to it.

Vishnu, basking in the critical and commercial success of Raachasan, told Silverscreen that details about the film firmed up last week. “I am so looking forward to it. There’s already a connect with the audience, and we just have to do a good job making the film. There is a lot of expectation and we have to live up to it. We worked on a tight budget earlier, and still managed a classy film. Times have changed, and so have budgets.”
The actor said that he was confident that three of his films, Mundasupatti, Indru Netru Naalai and Raatchasan were apt for sequels. “Indru Netru is the first off the block, and I’m confident the other two will have sequels soon. Ramkumar, who directed Mundasupatti and Raatchasan, will work on them after his Dhanush project, and we will take a call soon,” said the actor, who also tasted success as producer with films such as Velainu Vandhutha Vellaikaaran and Silukkuvarpatti Singam.

Going ahead, he hopes to be part of a franchise series, probably a police-based script. “I really admire the Kanchana franchise; films are being made at regular intervals and they click well too.”

For actor Karunakaran, Indru Netru Naalai is a very special part of his career. “Even today, I feel like I’ve just come out of that shoot. It was a fun set and we shared a great vibe. Whenever I meet people, this is one film they all mention. Kids especially love it, and I am so looking forward to what magic we can come up with now,” said the actor, who has films such as Teddy, Maanadu and Pulanaaivu coming up.

As for the other star of Indru Netru Naalai, the time machine, a new one is being constructed for the sequel.
