Inspired by real events, the film boasts of a stellar cast which includes Manoj Bajpayee, Rajkumar Rao, Richa Chadda, Frieda Pinto, Anupam Kher, Sai Tamankhar and Adil Hussain. The movie has been produced by David Womark who also produced the Oscar-winning Life of Pi.

At the core of the story are two sisters Preethi and Sonia, who live in a village. One of them is sent away under the pretext of a good job that will fetch money for the family. The trailer strongly hints at the girls’ father (Adil Hussain) being complicit in ‘selling’ Preethi off through a scene where Hussain is seen holding money.

Unable to bear the pain of staying away from her sister, Sonia requests her cunning grandfather to send her away too so that she can be with Preethi. Sonia lands up in Mumbai, a place notorious for flesh-trade. Unaware of the fact that she has been sold, a naïve Sonia plans to go knocking on different doors hoping to run into her sister. Her captors bring her back and demand that she repay her debt before going I search of her sister.

This forms only one half of the trailer whose latter portion suggests there are bigger games afoot. The scenes which were strictly confined to the brothel and alleys of the slums until now shifts to visuals of containers in a loading terminal and a ship floating against the backdrop of a city scape light at night. One of the sisters is shown waiting at the doorstep of a foreigner and the trailer even offers a glimpse of actor Demi Moore towards the end.

Frieda Pinto and Richa Chadda play sex-workers whose loyalties toward the sisters witness a shift over the course of the trailer. Mrinal Thakur plays the titular character in the film.

Following a barrage of visuals that depict the cruelty being meted out and the hardships faced by Sonia, the trailer shows a title card which reads “270 women and girls go missing in India every day”, before coming to a close with Sonia’s voice reading out the letter in which she vows to find her sister.
