Govind Vasantha is in the news, and how. Fresh from the announcement that he’s composing music for Jeethu Joseph’s film starring Karthi, Jyotika and Sathyaraj, the music director took to Instagram to give his fans another reason to cheer.
Remember Suresh Peters, the singer-rapper-composer who formed a hit pair with A R Rahman in his initial days, and left us with gems such as ‘Petta Rap’, ‘Chiku Bukku Rayile’, ‘Urvasi Urvasi’, ‘Hamma Hamma’, and ‘Columbus Columbus’, among others? He later went on to compose in Malayalam cinema and is a name to reckon with in the world of jingles. Govind is teaming up with him for this film.
Referring to how he too was fascinated when he heard ‘Chiku Bukku’ the first time, he wrote that he was “honoured to have him on board my next Karthi-Jyotika flick.”
The comments section was filled with fans of Suresh waiting for what the duo would come up with. This was also the perfect chance for many to check out one of Suresh’s best works, his non-film album Minnale, with hits such as ‘Mugilenna Mazhaienna’.
Govind has also done a violin-only version of his superhit number ‘Life of Ram’ in 96, and it has been shot in the woods. By now, those of you who have listened to Thaikkkudam Bridge, the brand he formed, know how well he plays the violin.
He’s also done another series, White Sand, which runs into three parts. The visuals show the vast expanse of the sky, and colourful prayer flags aflutter. The woods have also triggered in him the desire to sing. Check out his stirring ‘Woods and Nadan Paatu’ video on Instagram.
Govind has also signed up to compose for the Vijay Sethupathi-starrer Tughlak, and a Mani Ratnam production. Besides this, he’s busy bodybuilding (Insta videos again!) so that he can take part in a contest soon. In a recent interview, the composer mentioned how he’d lost more than 25 kg since he started exercising, and how he works out even if he’s in a place without a gym.
