Dulquer’s peers in the Malayalam film industry such as Nivin Pauly, Asif Ali, Fahadh Faasil and Prithviraj have already entered the film production business. At the moment, three films have gone on floors under the banner of Wayfarer Films. The shooting of the first film, directed by Shamsu Zayba, began on May 11 this year, with a cast that includes Gregory Jacob, Anu Sithara and Nikhila Vimal. Actress Anupama Parameswaran is an assistant director in this project. Dulquer might also play a cameo in this film, the title of which will be announced soon.

Wayfarer Films is also co-producing Kurup, a crime drama helmed by Srinath Rajendran which is based on the real story of Sukumara Kurup, a fugitive who escaped from the police after burning to death a man named Chacko in 1984. The film’s cast includes Sobhita Dhulipala, Indrajith Sukumaran, Shine Tom Chacko and Krrish. Srinath and Dulquer made their film debut together, through Second Show (2012) which went on to become a sleeper hit in the state.

On Tuesday, Dulquer announced the third project he will be producing under the banner of Wayfarer Films. The film, written and directed by Anoop Sathyan, son of veteran filmmaker Sathyan Anthikkad, has Suresh Gopi, Shobhana, Kalyani Priyadarshan and Dulquer playing the lead roles. The film went on floors in Chennai. The film is co-produced by M Star Communications. The project, a romantic drama, brings together Suresh Gopi and Shobana, a popular onscreen couple in the 80s and 90s Malayalam cinema. Earlier, Nazriya Nazim was in talks for the role now played by Kalyani. This is the latter’s second Malayalam film, after the yet-to-be-released Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham, directed by her father, Priyadarshan.
