The Ajith Kumar-starrer Viswasam has won the hearts of a wide range of audience. One among them is Chennai city’s Assistant Commissioner of Police, Saravanan, who appreciated the film and said Ajith Kumar was the example of a perfect leader. “A leader is someone who demonstrates what’s possible,” he wrote on his Facebook post.

He said when actors act following traffic rules, their fans follow too. “The film’s story, songs, fight and emotions were impressive and made me happy. Both the lead actors wear helmet while riding a bike, wear seat belts while driving a car. They insist parents to encourage their children’s wishes.”

He further congratulated director Siva and Ajith Kumar and said, “Tamil Nadu is one of the states with a high accident rate. When actors like Ajith Kumar, who have a huge fan base,  follow traffic rules, I wish for fans to also follow them.”

Since the film’s release on January 10, videos of the audience responses to the film have been making rounds. The film’s makers have been sharing these videos, some show people of all ages being moved to tears.

Among the viral videos, there is one of two young girls crying during the climax scene of the film. In another one, a cab driver appreciates the actor for conveying important messages through the film.

Viswasam released amidst a lot of fanfare. It is director Siva and Ajith Kumar’s fourth collaboration after Vivegam, Vedalam and Veeram. And from the reactions to the film, Viswasam is once again the mass family-entertainer that Ajith fans were looking forward to.

For the first time, this Pongal, an Ajith film met head on with a Rajini film. As per reviews, Petta may be the better film. We don’t have official data about world-wide collections yet, but Petta may have the bigger box-office collection abroad.

In Tamil Nadu, however, their distributors KJR Studios announced yesterday that Viswasam has crossed Rs 125 crore in 8 days in Tamil Nadu. This makes it the highest that an Ajith film has earned so far.

Produced by Sathyajyothi films, the film stars Nayanthara in the lead, with Thambi Ramaiah, Bose Venkat and Yogi Babu in supporting roles. Music for the film is composed by D. Imman.
