According to reports, the makers are in talks with the actor and have offered him the role played by Siddharth in the original. While a final decision is yet to be reached, an official announcement could be expected soon.

Talks regarding the Telugu remake of the movie emerged as early as December last year. Varun Tej, who was rumoured to be reprising Bobby Simhaa’s role from the original, confirmed the news by announcing that he had been approached for the movie. Latest reports have confirmed that Varun Tej has signed up for the film. Devi Sri Prasad has been hired as the music composer while the other crew members include Avinash Kolla, Chota K Prasad and Ayananka Bose. Mrinalini Ravi is rumoured to be playing the female lead.

Director Harish Shankar confirmed his participation in the remake in January. “Yes, I am remaking Jigarthanda in Telugu. Ram Achanta and Gopi Achanta are producing the movie under 14 Reels Entertainment banner. We are planning to start production from Pongal,” he was quoted as saying by IE.

Harish Shankar is getting back to filmmaking after one-and-a-half years. He previously directed the Allu Arjun starrer DJ – Duvvada Jagannadham.
