Arya’s ‘Magamuni’ To Release On September 6

Arya’s Magamuni, directed by Santhakumar, will release on September 6. The film also stars Mahima Nambiar and Indhuja in the lead, and is produced by KE Gnanavel Raja of Studio Green.

The film is a crime thriller and marks Santhakumar’s return to direction seven years after his hit debut film Mouna Guru. Arya reportedly plays a politician’s son in the movie. The teaser which released in May was a huge hit, and saw him as a killer who seems to be out on a revenge mission, and Indhuja may also be seen as an aide.

In an earlier interview to Silverscreen, Arya said, “I’ve been waiting for a script like this for a very long time. When Santhakumar narrated the story, he had the characterisation of every single person in the film written down. What I liked most was the depth of the screenplay, and the nuances he lent the characters. Even if it does not get stated openly in the film, that nuance helps the actors perform better, and get into the skin of the character. ”

The film was launched in November 2018, and was shot in Chennai, Kancheepuram and Erode. It wrapped up in April.

The film also stars Kaali Venkat, Jayaprakash, Aruldoss in supporting roles. Music is by S Thaman, who also composed for Santhakumar’s debut film, and lyrics are by Viveka. Cinematography is by Arun Bathmanaban and editing by national award-winning VJ Sabu Joseph.

Santhakumar’s debut, Mounaguru, was a sleeper hit in 2011. Starring Arulnithi, Iniya, John Vijay and Uma Riyaz, the films followed the life of a college student, chronicling an accident that happens on a highway. Uma Riyaz Khan, John Vijay also starred in the film.

Arya, last seen in Ghajinikanth, is also gearing up for the release of the Suriya and Mohanlal starrer Kaappaan, and has Santhana Devan and Teddy in the pipeline.
