Alia Bhatt Approached For Osho Biopic

Alia Bhatt At 'Women Of Worth' Event

Alia Bhatt, who is currently awaiting the release of Kalank, has been approached for a biopic by Shakun Batra based on the life of the Indian philosopher Osho. Previously, there had been rumours about the project being shelved after Priyanka Chopra began developing a similar Hollywood project.

According to the actress, the script was still in the early stages. “Shakun had floated the idea. I liked it and had agreed to it but the project is still in the inception stages and hasn’t been confirmed yet. But if and when he comes to me with the ready project, I would love to be a part of it. But at the moment, I have a long line up,” Bhatt was quoted in a DC report.

Alia Bhatt had previously worked with Shakun Batra on Kapoor and Sons. Batra, a Dharma protégé, has also made Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu with Imran Khan and Kareena Kapoor in the lead. Both the movies were a success at the box office and had gone on to gather critical appreciation too.

Reports emerged in January that Priyanka Chopra was set to play Ma Anand Sheela in a Hollywood project directed by the Oscar-winning director Barry Levinson. The actress had confirmed the news on the Ellen show.

“I am developing a feature with Barry Levinson. He is an iconic American director. We are developing it (from the perspective of) Sheela who is this guru who originated from India. She was his right-hand woman and she was devious. She created a whole cult in America. He was called Osho. I don’t know if you’ve heard of him. I am developing that next for me to star in and produce,” the actress was quoted in an HT report.

Sheela has led a controversial life after her guru disavowed her and raised allegations of arson, wiretapping, attempted murder and mass poisoning. Sheela now lives in Switzerland after being convicted of multiple attempted murders.
