Akshay Kumar Announces New Film With Neeraj Pandey

Akshay Kumar

Akshay Kumar has signed a new film. Titled Crack, the movie will be directed by Neeraj Pandey. On Independence Day, Kumar took to his official social media account to announce the project.

The first look of Crack features a broken pair of spectacles along with the tag line : ‘Every storm has a rage. Every rage has a story.’ Akshay and Neeraj have already collaborated for movies like Baby and Special 26. Akshay’s recent releases have a strong vein of patriotism running through them. In Airlift, Akshay essayed the role of a Kuwait-based businessman who helped carry out the evacuation of stranded Indians there during the Invasion of Kuwait.

In Baby, Akshay plays an Indian secret agent. The movie charts out a mission undertaken by fictional secret agents called Baby ( formed in response to the 2008 Mumbai attacks) that strives to identify terrorists who are planning attacks in India. Interestingly, all these films have Kumar essaying the loyal, patriotic leading man rescuing the country from terrorism or corruption.

This holds good for Neeraj as well. The director also weaves in similar themes into most of his films. His debut movie, A Wednesday, told the story of a common man taking on the Mumbai Police  to show them the harsh reality about terrorists.

As Kumar announced Crack on Independence day, some speculate that this film’s premise too would deal with similar issues.

Neeraj is currently awaiting the release of MS Dhoni- The Untold Story, a biopic on the profilic Indian Cricket player. The trailer of the film, starring Sushant Singh Rajput as Dhoni released last week. Rustom, co-produced by Neeraj Pandey, and starring Akshay Kumar as KM Nanavati, released recently to mixed reviews.
