Actor Soundara Raja Joins The Cast Of ‘Thalapathy 63’

Actor Soundararajan at Jigarthanda Press Show Stills

It seems to be an exciting period for fans of actor Vijay, what with the frequent updates on artistes joining the actor’s upcoming Thalapathi 63. Recently, actor Soundara Raja joined the cast. The actor, who has previously worked in films such as Dharmadurai, Sundarapandian and Kadaikutty Singam, took to his Twitter handle to announce the news. He tweeted his happiness in working with actor Vijay.

In mid-February, gaana singer and Super Singer participant Kapish Poovaiyaar was said to have joined the film’s cast. Meanwhile, the film’s shoot seems to be progressing at a brisk pace. Work on the sets has already begun, and Chennai’s famous Napier’s bridge was recreated at a popular studio in the city. Some work is also taking place at Binny mills. AR Rahman has been roped in for the music, and Vivek is the lyricist. The film is reportedly not a regular sports drama, but an investigative thriller with a sports backdrop.

It is said that Vijay will dance with a thousand children for the opening song of the film. An official confirmation regarding this is yet to be made, though. Reports also suggest that Thalapathy 63 is about football players who get selected to the Indian Football team, and get killed one by one. The blame falls on the coach, played by Vijay, who then goes in search of the real culprit.

Thalapathy 63 is the actor’s third collaboration with director Atlee after Theri and Mersal, both big-budget extravaganzas. It features a big star cast with Nayanathara, Kathir, Vivekh, Yogi Babu and others. The film is produced by Archana Kalapthi under the banner of AGS Entertainments.

Atlee has retained the team from Mersal – editor Antony Ruben, stunt director Anal Arasu, and art director Muthuraj. Sources suggest that Aalaporaan Tamizhan, a song from Mersal, is the title being considered.
