Actor Prabhu Deva Will Soon Direct A Tamil Film

Actor Prabhu Deva disclosed that he will soon be directing a Tamil film, in his interview with Deccan Chronicle. Currently wrapping up his trilingual movie –   Devi(L) in Tamil, Abhinetri in Hindi and Telugu –  the actor has a lot on his plate.

Prabhu Deva said, “Things have to fall in place for my Tamil project. I will be acting in another Tamil-Telugu bilingual, and will direct a Hindi film by November or December”.

Actor Prabhu Deva was awol in Kollywood for a while. Last seen in an acting role 10 years ago, his movie, Devi(L) marks the actor’s comeback to Tamil cinemas. However, he was seen in a directorial role in movies like Pokkiri, Villu, Engeyum Kaadhal, et al. He also did cameo roles in these movies. Meanwhile, he was active in Bollywood, directing successful movies like Rowdy Rathore, Singh is Bling etc. He was last seen acting in the two-part Hindi dance drama ABCD-2.

In 2015, Prabhu Deva launched his production studio, Prabhu Deva Studios. Bogan starring Jayam Ravi and directed by Lakshman of Romeo Juliet fame was the first movie to be launched under this banner. His upcoming movie, Devi(L) also comes out under his banner.

Talking to ToI, the actor said that the film was a horror-thriller, focusing on the relationship between a husband and wife. Prabhu plays Tamannaah’s husband in the movie. He said, “I play a character called Krishna, who initially takes his wife for granted and later learns to cherish her”.  Talking about his co-actor Tamannaah, he said, “I have never seen anyone dance like her in recent times”.

Asked about his future projects, he said, after the launch of Devi(L), many directors have approached him to cast him in their movies. He said, ” I liked almost all the scripts and I am planning to take up a couple of projects this year. My plan in life is very simple –  I don’t plan anything. I take things as they come”. The actor also added that he is open to choreography and would take up films if directors approached him.
