August Rewind: Top 7 Social Media Moments

1. Actor Vijay’s fans took Twitter by storm when the audio of the much-anticipated movie Puli (stills from the movie here) was launched in Chennai on August 2. For over 6 hours, the hashtag #PuliAudioLaunch trended nationwide. Live updates and pictures from the extravagant event were all over Twitter for the next two days.

Later, when the show was telecast on a private channel, the hashtag started trending yet again, thanks to Vijay and T Rajendar, who made an electrifying speech at the audio launch.

2. After three years of struggle, debutant director Vijay Chander’s Vaalu (stills from the movie here) finally hit the screens, despite a few last minute hurdles.

Although Dhanush and STR are considered professional rivals, the actors, time and again, reiterate that they are buddies.

3. The Nadigar Sangam election issue seems set to go on forever. While both Sarathkumar and Vishal’s team are gearing up for the crucial day, preparations are in full swing for both sides. Vishal, Nasser and the rest of their team met two industry stalwarts – Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan to invite them to vote at the election. Well, if its Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan, it has to trend, right?

Actress Khushboo and actor Arya have also declared their support for the team.

4. Ever since director Pa Ranjith announced that he would be working with Rajinikanth on his next film, Twitteratis had been busy speculating over the details. The young director announced the title  during non-peak hours. But, it’s Rajinikanth, right? Retweets and favorities kept increasing by the minute.

Indian filmmaker and lyricist CS Amudhan added his own quirky spin to the title.

5. Actress Trisha seems to be on a signing spree. Currently, she has over five films in various stages of production. Her look in the recently announced Nayagi (stills from the film here) caught the attention of her followers. Which included director SS Rajamouli.


And actress Sriya Reddy, who was thrilled with Trisha’s look.

6. There have been rumors about actor Dhanush’s next film with director Durai Senthilkumar. Before it gets too late, they decided to share some details about the film, which will see Dhanush in a dual role for the first time.

Actress Radhika Sarathkumar who plays an important role in Dhanush’s VIP 2 had to wish him on this new venture.

7. Even as Dhanush grabbed the limelight, his close buddy STR wasn’t far behind. The teaser of his film Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada was released and his  fans never miss an opportunity to tweet about it.

Also, STR’s best buddy in the Telugu industry Manchu Manoj, wished the actor for his next film.

Given the run of bad luck STR has had, he’s sure to appreciate it. *****
