The En Vazhi Thani Vazhi Press Meet Report

In October, when Shahrukh Khan was three hours late to a Happy New Year promo event, angry journalists walked out of the venue. No such thing happened at the En Vazhi Thani Vazhi press meet today, even though the lead actor – RK – was over two hours late.  Most journalists were busy playing with a mobile app created to promote the movie.

RK – who attended the pressmeet after a private event to launch the audio began by apologizing profusely.  No complaints from this reporter though – playing with the app and reading the companion Dhina Thanthi was a refreshing break.

“I’m proud to introduce this marketing method for the first time in India,” said RK talking about the app. We found out today that the trailer and songs of Mysskin’s Pisaasu are also being promoted in a similar manner – is two enough to be a trend?

When he met the press a couple of months ago, RK spoke about  how hard it was for him to dance with Poonam Kaur in En Vazhi Thani Vazhi. Today, when three songs from the movie were screened, we understood just how hard it must have been.

As if reading our mind, RK said, “I’m still a novice. But I’m working hard on my dancing. With your encouragement, I’ll be good at it one day.”

Actor Singa Muthu then said this. “RK sir, since you were late, I kept looking at Poonam Kaur to kill time. Apram, enakku avangaley paathaaley oru maathiri irukku…”  RK smiled awkwardly. Poonam Kaur turned to director Shaji Kailas, presumably asking him to translate what Singamuthu said. From the looks of it, he didn’t explain much to her.

Soon actor and director Gajendran followed suit. “Anchor Archana paaka nalla irundhaanga.. so time ponadhu therila…” he said.

Srikanth Deva livened up proceedings like he always does, with a creative excuse for being late. “Naan vera route-la poitenen vazhi thani vazhi aayiducha…” The audience clapped. “I am going to transfer some money to the accounts of whoever clapped for me now,” he joked and quickly ended his speech saying it was a privilege to work with Vairamuthu on the movie.
