Anjaan Songs Premiere: Bang Bang Bang

Silverscreen goes to the Anjaan songs premiere event

You know you’re in for a good time when you see fans outside Sathyam Cinemas sporting ‘Suriya Veriyans’ t-shirts. That being said, the Anjaan songs premiere event was never going to be a dull one. It had a thrilling premise: good looking celebrities (Suriya, Vidyut Jamwal), some cool songs courtesy Yuvan Shankar Raja and three hundred of actor Suriya’s most ardent fans. The level of excitement shot up markedly when the actor walked in to the venue, and the roars took a while to die down. Here’s what we observed when we finally regained our hearing and other senses:

A D V E R T I S E M E N T

1. The song Bang Bang Bang is a pulsating track with a heavy rock influence. Suriya looks super cool in his hipster clothes and modish hairstyle. The outfits are a definite plus.

2. Suriya has rendered the track Ek Do Teen Chaar in the film. It is a typical ‘mass’ dance number and has Samantha Ruth Prabhu in an all new (to Tamil cinema at least) glam avatar.

3. The Masss actor confessed sheepishly that singing (for the first time) was a trying experience. “I’m not even a bathroom singer. And they made me sing for a feature film. Can you imagine how stressful that must have been?” he questioned rhetorically.

4. Suriya did oblige his fans though, and sang a few lines from the number along with Yuvan Shankar Raja.

5.The soulful Kadhal Solla Aasai has Yuvan revisiting his Pogadhae Pogadhae days. “It’s the next heartbreak anthem for sure,” claimed director N Lingusamy.

6. Worry not, dear Suriya fans. There’s also a super sexy item song in the film. Vivekha has penned the lyrics and managed to include ‘Silk Smitha’ in the track. We hear that he’s a big fan.

7. Soori, who got the fans roaring again (thank you very much) claimed that he was responsible for a few hapless Mumbaikars forgetting Hindi. “I have spoken Hindi for the first time in this film. The people of Mumbai forgot the language when they heard me talk,” he laughed.

8. Brindha Sarathy has written the dialogues for the film. The host of the event did manage to get him to mouth a punch-line from Anjaan, much to the delight of Suriya fans.

9. Lingusamy was all praise for his hero. He lauded Suriya for his immense commitment to the role and claimed that working with Suriya was a learning experience.

10. Anjaan’s heroine Samantha Ruth Prabhu couldn’t make it to the event due to some unforeseen circumstances. Meanwhile, the fans sitting with us mistook the film’s fashion designer for the actress and started screaming their hearts out. They did realise their mistake eventually, but we heard one fan remarking: “It’s ok machi. She made our Suriya anna look so cool onscreen. We appreciated her for it that’s all!”
