Releases, Releases

The Kannada re-make of Jigarthanda will release on June 24.

Time Out

Kayal fame Anandhi spoke out on being ‘forced’ to wear glamourous outfits in Tamil films. “I faced few bad experiences while shooting for Tamil movies. Few Tamil directors forced me to wear skin-show outfits in the films, by changing the original script narrated to me. I feel uneasy and uncomfortable wearing such outfits. Now, I am taking care while signing the new projects. I am making it very clear to directors, that I will not wear ultra-glamorous outfits or two-piece bikinis in their films.”

Priyanka Chopra’s debut Bhojpuri production Bam Bam Bol Rahe Hai Kashi has drawn flak for its use of obscenity.

Straight Talk

Anurag Kashyap, co-producer of Udta Punjab, sought the removal of Pahlaj Nihalani, the chief of Central Board Of Film Certification (CBFC) and called for an overhaul in the Board. He said, “We have a humongous problem with Mr Nihalani but if he goes who will come in? What’s the guarantee that if someone comes in, he will not interpret the Cinematograph Act and the law the same way, or may be worse or better. The system needs overhaul. It is not just Nihalani, who needs to be replaced, which we want.”
