Malayalam actress Rima Kallingal is all set to play the female lead in a movie inspired by the recently launched Kochi Metro. The actress will play a salesgirl who happens to be a huge fan of E Sreedharan, the retired Engineering Service officer popularly known as the “Metro Man”.
According to a Manorama report, the story revolves around PK Lathika, a salesgirl from Thripunithura. However, while the makers are yet to announce the actor who will play E Sreedharan, reports speculate that it will be a big star.
Titled Arabikkadalinte Rani – The Metro Woman, the film is directed by M Padmakumar and S Suresh Babu. It will be scripted by Babu along with MU Praveen.
Rima has even shared a photo of herself from the film on her Instagram account.

The actress, in a recent interview with The News Minute, spoke about her character Lathika: “It’s very difficult to change society’s perception overnight. But yes, slowly, steadily, I want to pick up roles that showcase such issues.
E Sreedharan is credited for changing the face of public transport in India in building the Konkan Railway and the Delhi Metro while he served as the managing director of Delhi Metro between 1995 and 2012. He was awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India in 2001, the Padma Vibhushan in 2008, the Chevalier de la Légion d’honneur in 2005 by the French government, and was named one of Asia’s Heroes by TIME magazine in 2003.
After his retirement, Sreedharan has been appointed the Principal Advisor of the Kochi Metro Rail Project. Kochi Metro was finally unveiled on June 17, 2017 amidst much celebration. The unveiling of Metro was considered a landmark event in India in terms of completion time, control systems used, initiatives such as employing transgenders, vertical gardening, respecting migrant laborers, and use of solar power.
