Malayalam actress Parvathy, who has been receiving a lot of flak for criticising Mammootty’s film Kasaba, a crass film laden with misogyny, has given director Jude Anthany Joseph a fitting reply to him calling her a circus monkey.
Considering how Parvathy has been at the receiving end of all the abuses hurled at her on social media by Mammootty fans, the director deemed it fit to compare her to a circus monkey who initially obeyed everything as the masters would say, but when turned into a bigger star, abused the very same masters.
“A monkey managed to get into the circus and obeyed whatever the master said. It ran, it jumped, did as it was told to do. Finally, the monkey became famous and suddenly, starts speaking against circus and all the masters. Laments that the masters exploited it. This monkey could have very well abandoned the circus and gone back to the jungle. But then, who will know the monkey then?” he wrote, without naming any names.
Parvathy, who has never shied away from speaking out, took to Twitter to share a picture of the letters OMKV embroidered on a piece of cloth.

OMKV literally translates to ‘get lost’.

It all started when Parvathy, who is a part of the Women in Cinema Collective in the Malayalam film industry, spoke at the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK). Stating that she had the ‘bad luck’ of watching one film, the actress was referring to Mammootty’s Kasaba.
“With all respect to the makers, the film disappointed me, as it featured a great actor spitting totally misogynistic dialogues. A lot of people feel cinema reflects life and society, so when a superstar mouths such a dialogue, people might think it’s sexy and cool,” Parvathy was quoted as saying.
Several fans of Mammootty took to tweeting abuses at her, questioning her for speaking ‘ill’ of their favourite star.
