Malayalam Actress Assault Case: Director Lal Contradicts Actress’ Version

Film actor-director Lal, who had supplied the vehicle used by the Malayalam actress when she was assaulted, told reporters that the actor had not visited Kochi for filming. Lal said that the actress had asked for transport to take her to her friend – actress Remya Nambeesan’s home. This is in direct contrast to the actress’ own statement, in which she said that she had been travelling to finish her acting commitments for her current film, which is being produced by Lal’s Lal Creations..

“I did not contact her after making arrangements for the vehicle thinking that she would have reached Remya’s home,” Lal said.

Lal also expressed concern at the recent reports implicating actors like Dileep and producer Anto Joseph in the crime without any evidence. “I am not worried about reports stating that everything will become clear if cops question Lal. Since people know me, they would not believe such reports. But I am distressed that Anto who came to help me on the fateful night has been mentioned as a culprit,” he said.

Lal also said that he was responsible for the capture of Martin, the actress’ driver. “Martin tried to slip out, but I brought him back realising that he was faking about being beaten up by assailants,” he said.

Lal also sought to put an end to some of the rumours floating around about the industry. Ever since the actress’ ordeal became public, reports of drug abuse and sexual misconduct have been circulating.

Lal said: “It is complete rubbish. People spreading such stories should specify in which shooting sets or locations such activities have taken place. Nobody can make a film successful by smoking marijuana.”
