Lucifer: First Look Shows A Brooding Mohanlal

The second in the series of first-look posters of Lucifer, directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran and starring Mohanlal, is out. Clad in a white shirt and with a salt-and-pepper look reminiscent of his 2014 Tamil movie Jilla, it shows a brooding Mohanlal looking intently at something. The look was tweeted by Mohanlal on Thursday.

Scripted by actor-screenwriter Murali Gopy and produced by Antony Perumbavoor under the banner of Aashirvaad Cinemas, the movie has finally started rolling nearly two years after it was announced. Prithviraj, who has always been vocal about his dream of becoming a director, had announced the project in 2016. Incidentally, Koode, his film with Anjali Menon, released last week in Kerala, and this week across the rest of the country.

Lucifer was to be directed by the talented Rajesh Pillai, but after his untimely demise, Prithviraj took over the reins. Speaking to The Times of India recently, Mohanlal said there was immense pressure on Prithviraj to come up with a good film and that he was extremely dedicated to the project. “The hype is entirely from the fact that a leading actor is directing another,” observed Mohanlal.

In the recent controversy over the reinstatement of rape accused Dileep into the Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA), Mohanlal and Prithviraj have taken opposing stands. While Mohanlal, as President, allowed the comeback, Prithviraj has always backed the rights of the survivor.

With writing credits for films such as Ee Adutha Kalathu, Left Right Left and Kammara Sambhavam, Murali Gopy’s addition to the team as screenwriter has raised expectations from the film. Prithviraj recently announced that Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi would also form part of the cast.

Divulging more about the movie, Mohanlal said “It will have an interesting story and narration techniques. It will be a good entertainer that will be liked by everyone, and added that “It is not easy to make an entertainer”.

The movie, whose tagline goes “Blood Brotherhood Betrayal”, has music by Deepak Dev. Sujith Vaassudev wields the camera.
