Nivin Pauly and Nayanthara’s film Love Action Drama is the contemporary version of Malayalam actor Sreenivasan’s iconic 1989 film Vadakkunokkiyanthram. The film is directed by Dhyan Sreenivasan and will be a comedy entertainer, like the original.
Nivin will reprise Sreenivasan’s role as Dinesan, an overprotective husband who harbours an inferior complex. Nayanthara plays Shobha.
The film was a massive hit at the time of its release and is still rated as one of the better comedies from the late 80s’. It was remade in Tamil as Dindigul Sarathy (2008), in Kannada as Nanjangudu Nanjunda and in Hindi as Main, Meri Patni Aur Woh (2005).

Dhyan, who makes his directorial debut with this film, calls it a romantic-comedy. Apart from the two lead actors, Aju Varghese, best known for his comedy roles, also stars in this film. Varghese is also the film’s producer. Music will be composed by the Shaun Rahman, known for his work in Thattathin Marayathu (2012), and the recently released Godha.
The film, a bilingual, will begin shooting this October. Plans are on to shoot the film in Chennai as well as Alappuzha.
