C/O Saira Banu, Starring Manju Warrier & Amala Akkineni, Goes On Floors

C/O Saira Banu, a Malayalam movie starring Amala Akkineni and Manju Warrier, was launched on Saturday in Kochi. The women-centric film is directed by Antony Sony, a former associate of Rosshan Andrews who helmed Manju Warrier’s comeback film, How Old Are You. It is produced by Eros International & Maqtro Pictures.

Niranjana Anoop and Shane Nigam (of Kismath fame) play pivotal roles in the film which has Manju Warrier playing Saira Banu, the titular role. Reportedly, Manju plays a postwoman in the film. Amala, who rose to fame in Mollywood with just two films – Ulladakkam and Ente Suryaputhrikku –  in 1991, is making a comeback to the industry after 25 years. Her character in the film, Annie John Tharavadi, is a lawyer.

Shaan has written the film’s script. He, along with Antony Sony, had made a short film, Moonnamidam, last year. The critically acclaimed short was produced by actor Jayasurya.

In her second innings in Mollywood, Manju Warrier has worked in a number of women-centric films. In Aashiq Abu’s Rani Padmini, she played Padmini, a housewife who embarks on an adventure trip to the Himalayas with another woman, played by Rima Kallingal. Her last release in Malayalam was Karinkunnam Six’s, in which she played a volleyball coach.
