Aju Varghese Faces Arrest For Revealing Abduction Survivor’s Name On Facebook

Aju Varghese

Actor Aju Varghese is facing possible arrest for revealing the name of the actress who was abducted in Kochi in February. Varghese has recorded a statement with the Kalamassery police in Kochi in connection with the case, in which he has admitted to posting the actress’s name on Facebook. He has told the police that he was not aware that this was a crime. However, that may not be sufficient to prevent his arrest.

Aju also posted a message defending actor Dileep, who was facing allegations at the time. Dileep has since been arrested

Aju was summoned to the police station on Thursday at 11:30 am and was reportedly questioned until 2 pm. According to a Manorama report, Aju admitted that he had revealed the survivor’s name in his post. Further, he has handed over the phone used to post the message to the police.

He has also apologised for the mistake.

The police will examine his phone to collect further evidence, although the actor has already confessed. Aju’s apology also has no legal standing and the police could still take an action against him. The complaint against him was filed by an individual from Kalamassery.

The case has been registered under IPC 228 (A), which prevents revealing the identity of the victim in certain cases.

Earlier on Monday, the police arrested Dileep for conspiring to abduct the actress.
