Tik Tik Tik

Tik Tik Tik is a science-fiction film, starring Jayam Ravi and Nivetha Pethuraj in the lead. It is directed by Shakti Soundar Rajan of Miruthan fame. The film is pegged to be India’s first film that is set in the space.

The story starts when an asteroid is about to hit the Earth. Jayam Ravi, who is a trained magician, is hired to lead a team of astronauts to prevent the disaster. The film’s shooting took place at Chennai’s ECR, where a space shuttle set was erected. The director calls it a “men on a mission” kind of film, and assures it’s not a “dry science-fiction film”.

The film is directed by Vijay Vikram, who has worked as an assistant director to SA Chandrashekar, who in turn, is playing the titular role. Rohini plays SAC’s spouse, while R.K. Suresh and Upasana play the lead pair. Vijay Antony, S Ve Shekar, Kasthoori, Manobala and Madan Bob have interesting cameos.

Andhra Mess

Andhra Mess is director Jai’s first outing, who has over hundred ad films to his credit. It took three years for the film to release. The film stars Raj Bharath of Natpadhigaram 79 fame, debutant Tejashwini, Balaji Mohan, and AP Sreedhar as the antagonist. The film is bankrolled by Nirmal K Raj under the banner of Showboat Productions. The film tries to portray the darker side of men and attempts to break the notion that women are the weaker sex. Due to the genre of the film, many producers backed out of the project which caused the delay.

Ranam

This film is directed by Nirmal Sahadev, bankrolled by Anand Payyanur and Biju–Rani Lawson under the banners Yes Cinema Production and Lawson Entertainment. Ranam – Detroit Crossing is said to be based on true stories, focusing on Tamil street fights. The lead character gets involved with some gangs and the rest forms the story. Prithviraj plays a gang leader shuttling between Detroit and Michigan. The film also stars Rahman and Isha Talwar.

Maradona

Actor Tovino Thomas has lately been experimenting with different kinds of roles. After the unimpressive Abhiyum Anuvum, he will now be seen in Maradona. The film is Vishnu Narayanan’s first directorial venture, who was earlier an associate of Dileesh Pothan, Aashiq Abu and Sameer Thahir. Maradona is a romantic thriller, and a newcomer named Sharanya is paired opposite Tovino. Chemban Vinod Jose, Leona Lishoy, Tito Wilson and Kichu Tellus play prominent roles in the movie and the music is by Sushin Shyam.

In an earlier interview with Silverscreen, Tovino Thomas talking about his choice of films, said, “I choose a script if I feel I have something good to do, and also, if I find the team interesting. For me, the process of filming is as important as how the film turns out to be. That experience is important.”
