Weekend Watch: Bhaskar Oru Rascal & Kaali Are The Two Major Tamil Releases

With the release of the Marvel superhero movie Deadpool 2, South Indian box-office is welcoming yet another blockbuster, like last month’s Avengers: Infinity War. In Kollywood, there are two movies that are releasing this weekend.

Bhaskar Oru Rascal

Bhaskar Oru Rascal is a Tamil family entertainer directed by Siddique of Kaavalan fame. The movie has Arvind Swami and Amala Paul in the lead roles, while Baby Nainikka will be appearing in an important role.

It is an official remake of the Malayalam movie, Bhaskar The Rascal which starred Mammootty and Nayanthara in the lead and was directed by Siddique. Arvind Swami sports a new look in it with him beating up thugs set to a thundering background score. Amala Paul plays a young mother, and a part of the film is reportedly dedicated to the romance between Amala and Arvind.

The movie was initially planned to release as a Pongal release, but pushed the date further. After two releases dates, it’s finally ready to hit the screens this Friday.

Kaali

This Tamil action movie is written and directed by Vanakkam Chennai fame Kiruthiga Udhayanidhi. The film is produced by Vijay Antony Film Corporation. Vijay Antony, Anjali and Sunaina play the lead role in the movie. Music for the movie is composed by Vijay Antony.

Vijay Antony is seen in dual roles in the trailer – one as Bharath a doctor, and the other as a villager. Nasser, Yogi Babu, Jayaprakash and Shilpa are among the supporting cast.

The makers of action drama Kaali has released the film’s first seven minutes on YouTube.

The seven-minute video focuses on establishing Vijay Antony’s character, Bharath, who frequently gets nightmares of a mother and her child getting attacked by a bull and a snake. After this recurring dream wakes him up one night, he starts to narrate his life story through which the audience gets to know that his father and him are running a multi-specialty hospital in the US. As the story progresses, his mother gets ill and is eventually revealed that he’s been adopted. Finally, Bharath goes to India to find out the truth about his past life.
