In a scene, Chopra holds up prayer beads (typically used by Hindus) from a crime scene as proof that the attack was planned by Indians.

The episode titled Blood of Romeo aired on June 1 and was widely criticised on social media by Indians.

In response to the criticism, Chopra wrote on her social media account:

“I’m extremely saddened and sorry that some sentiments have been hurt by a recent episode of Quantico. That was not and would never be my intention. I sincerely apologise. I’m a proud Indian and that will never change.”

The network airing Quantico also offered an apology for the content of the episode. “ABC Studios and the executive producers of Quantico would like to extend an apology to our audience who were offended by the most recent episode, ‘The Blood of Romeo,’” ABC Studios and the show’s producers said in a statement.

“The episode has stirred a lot of emotion, much of which is unfairly aimed at Priyanka Chopra, who didn’t create the show, nor does she write or direct it. She has no involvement in the casting of the show or the storylines depicted in the series.”

Critics have asked for a boycott of Quantico and Chopra’s other films. The Karni Sena has also become involved in the issue. Reports indicate that the group, which famously protested against Padmaavat, is planning an agitation against Priyanka Chopra.
