Harry Potter and the Cursed Child has won nine prizes at the Olivier Awards, the biggest event in the UK theatrical calendar. “The privilege of being able to play Hermione is overwhelming and humbling,” said Noma after her win. Anthony Boyle, who plays Scorpius Malfoy, won the Best Supporting Actor. The other awards the play won were Best Director, Best Lighting, Best New Show, Best Sound, Best Costumes and Best Sets.

According to a BBC report, the play won nine of its 11 nominations, overtaking Matilda the Musical and The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time – both of which had seven wins each – to become the most decorated production in Olivier’s history.

Cursed Child, which picks up 19 years from where the final Potter novel left off, depicts Harry and his friends as adults and follows the adventures of their offspring at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The play has reportedly been a sell-out since its first show at the Palace Theatre in London last July.

The two-part West End stage play written by Jack Thorne is based on an original new story by Thorne, JK Rowling, and John Tiffany. The play is directed by John Tiffany with choreography by Steven Hoggett, set design by Christine Jones, costume design by Katrina Lindsay, lighting design by Neil Austin, music by Imogen Heap, and sound design by Gareth Fry.
