Chris Evans Channels His Inner ‘Captain America’, Takes Down KKK Leader On Twitter

Chris Evans (Captain America) was recently involved in a Twitter feud with white supremacist and former Ku Klux Klan (KKK) leader David Duke. Evans called him out for his racism and was critical of Duke’s endorsement of Attorney General Jess Sessions’ confirmation. Subsequently, Duke posted a series of tweets attempting to troll the actor, and calling him “dumb” for supporting “Jewish extremists”.

Duke even likened Evans’ onscreen character – Captain America – to that of a “theoretical Marxist”.

David Duke is well-known as an American white nationalist, politician, antisemitic conspiracy theorist, Holocaust denier, and former Imperial Wizard of the KKK.

Duke mostly speaks against what he describes as the “Jewish control” of the Federal Reserve Bank, the US federal government, and the media, and supports the preservation of what he considers to be Western culture and traditionalist Christian family values, voluntary racial segregation, anti-communism, and white separatism. “Our clear goal must be the advancement of the white race and separation of the white and black races. This goal must include freeing of the American media and government from subservient Jewish interests,” he once wrote in his column, Klan Code of Conduct, in 1978.

Duke was on a roll with his tweets, but for Evans, the last straw was when Duke tweeted pictures of the actor with his previous girlfriends, and asked why he “hates the women of his people”.

This led to Evans lashing out at the former KKK leader, stating that his relationships were about unity and love, not spreading hatred.

Evans’ response was widely appreciated, with many agreeing that he had behaved just as Captain American would have. Captain America fights off Nazis across several issues of the comic series.
