Hollywood actress and humanitarian Angelina Jolie was reportedly part of a plan that included her acting as bait to capture African warlord Joseph Kony.

According to The Independent, French investigative site called Mediapart obtained 40,000 International Criminal Court (ICC) documents which contained emails between the actress and former ICC Chief Prosecutor Luis Moreno Ocampo.

The report states that Jolie’s now-estranged husband, Brad Pitt, was supposed to be part of the plan but the people corresponding, instead, chose Jolie. An email sent by Moreno Ocampo at the time read: “Forget other celebrities, she is the one… She loves to arrest Kony. She is ready. Probably Brad [Pitt] will go also.”

The plan included that Pitt and Jolie would travel with US special forces to Central African Republic and that would draw Kony out of an armoured compound, allowing for his capture.

“Invite Kony to dinner and then arrest him,” an email exchange revealed, with even Jolie responding in the affirmative. “Brad is being supportive. Let’s discuss logistics.

Much love Xxx.”

Thus far, Jolie’s representatives have declined to respond. Ocampo, meanwhile, has declared that he is the victim of a “targeted cyber attack” as he’s currently being questioned over his alleged ties to Libyan businessman Hassan Tatanaki, who worked alongside dictator Muammar Gaddafi.

Joseph Kony is the leader of the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA), a guerrilla group that formerly operated in Uganda. He has been accused by government entities of ordering the abduction of children to become child soldiers and sex slaves, and war crimes.
