Oscars 2018: ‘The Shape Of Water’ & ‘Dunkirk’ Are The Big Winners Of The Night

The 90th Academy Awards is taking place at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California. Comedian Jimmy Kimmel is hosting for the second consecutive year.

Here’s what’s been happening so far:

The final award of the night was again presented by Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway. The winner was The Shape of Water.

The 23rd award was for Best Actress, won by Frances McDormand.

Gary Oldman wins his first Oscar for his lead role performance as Winston Churchill in Darkest Hour.

The Best Director award goes to Guillermo Del Toro.

Eddie Vedder pays to tribute to all those who passed away in Hollywood.

The 19th and 20th awards are song related.

The fifth performance of the night is by Keala Settle, who gives an emotional performance of ‘This Is Me’ from The Greatest Showman.

The 18th award is for Best Cinematography.

The 17th award is for Best Original Screenplay, won by Jordan Peele.

The 16th award is for Best Adapted Screenplay.

The fourth performance of the evening is by Andra Day and Common.

The 14th and 15th awards are for Best Documentary Short and Live Action Short respectively.

Dunkirk wins its third award for the night – Best Film Editing.

The 12th award of the night is for Best Visual Effects, won by the team behind Blade Runner 2049.

The third performance of the evening is by Sufjan Steven, who performs ‘Mystery of Love’ from the film Call Me By Your Name.

The 11th award is for Best Animated Feature.

The tenth award is for Best Animated Short. Glen Keane and Kobe Bryant win the award for their film Dear Basketball.

The ninth award is for Best Supporting Actress. Allison Janney wins her first Academy Award for her performance in I, Tonya.

The eighth award is for Best Foreign Language Film. A Fantastic Woman from Chile wins the award.

Second performance of the evening features the singers from the animated film Coco.

The seventh award for the evening is for Best Production Design.

The fifth and sixth awards for the evening are Best Sound Editing and Sound Mixing. Both go to Dunkirk.

Four awards later, Mary J Blige is introduced on stage by Taraji P Henson. Blige performs ‘Mighty River’ from her film Mudbound.

The fourth award of the evening is for Best Documentary Feature.

The third award of the evening is for Best Costume Design. Mark Bridges, whose best known for his work for The Artist, wins the award for Phantom Thread.

The second award of the night is for Makeup and Hairstyling.

First award of the night – Best Supporting Actor – goes to Sam Rockwell for his performance in Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.

Host Jimmy Kimmel opens with the Harvey Weinstein case and on shining light on positive films.
