After Priyanka Chopra and Disha Patani, Tabu is the latest to join the cast of Bharat, starring Salman Khan. The film’s director, Ali Abbas Zafar confirmed the news.

Salman and Tabu first collaborated on the Raj Kanwar-directed love triangle, Jeet, in 1996 which had her playing a tawaif, Tulsibai, who consoles Sunny Deol’s character after Salman whisks away his ladylove. This was followed three years later by a delightful act in David Dhawan’s rom-com, Biwi No. 1, another Salman-Karisma Kapoor starrer, as Anil Kapoor’s ‘Lovely’ wife. The same year she played his bhabhi in Sooraj Barjatya’s Hum Saath Saath Hain and more recently in 2014, she returned as his sister in Jai Ho.

Touted to be an official remake of a South Korean film titled An Ode To My Father, the film has been booked for Eid release in 2019.

“That film is just the starting point for ours but since it was an inspiration, we wanted in all fairness to officially own it and acquired the remake rights before going ahead with Bharat. It starts in 1947 and ends in 2000 and is the journey of a country and also a person, both of whom go by the name of Bharat,” the director had said earlier.

The film’s shooting will take place in Abu Dhabi and Spain, besides Punjab and Delhi.

Meanwhile, Salman is shooting for Race 3. Apart from Bharat, Priyanka will also team up with Hollywood star Will Smith in an ad-supported original spearheaded by YouTube. According to The Hollywood Reporter, she will host the series If I Could Tell You Just One Thing, which will feature her journey to meet inspirational people and ask them advice on how to change the world. She also has a Hollywood film, A Lot Like Jake in the pipeline.
