Sunny Leone On Outrage Over Condom Ads: ‘It’s A Free Country’

Sunny Leone on Condom ads

Sunny Leone, who features in an ad for Manforce condom, says she isn’t bothered about the furore around the brand, and feels people are free to speak their mind in a democracy. Political parties and women’s organisations have been demanding a pull-down of ads for Manforce condom.

Speaking to Mid-Day Sunny said, “One of the greatest things about India is the democracy and freedom of speech. If people want to raise their voice against me, they can go ahead and do it. Only the government can decide what’s best for the citizens.”

Given that this particular ad is for condoms, her next statement used a somewhat curious analogy. Sunny said, “When I sign up for a brand, I take moral responsibility for it. It’s like bringing a baby into the world. A couple goes ahead with the decision of starting a family only when it is responsible enough to take care of the child.”

In the past, Sunny Leone has shown she has a fairly good idea of her own abilities, and can plan ahead when it comes to business. She launched a perfume brand last year, which was fairly successful. Now she’s looking to launch a cosmetics brand. “I never thought people would like my perfumes so much. The business really boomed and I thought of exploring more opportunities. The cosmetic line is an extension of my personality. I am personally making an effort to be involved in all possible decisions,” she added.
