Model and host of Pro Kabaddi League, Sonika Chauhan, was killed in an accident in Kolkata yesterday. She was travelling with actor Vikram Chatterjee, who was seriously injured when the SUV they were in crashed onto the pavement while trying to avoid an approaching car from a nearby lane.
The police told PTI News that Vikram and Sonika, who were on the driver’s seat and the front passenger seat respectively, were brought out from the mangled car by locals, and rushed to a private hospital. Sonika was declared dead on arrival.

A popular model, Sonika had worked with designers from Kolkata and Mumbai. She began her modelling career in 2013 when she won the Miss Popular award in the Miss Diva competition. Apart from hosting Pro Kabaddi League Season 3, she also hosted the Bengali version of Salman’s Khan’s Bigg Boss titled Bigg Boss Bangla. She was also an anchor with channels Star Sports and NDTV Prime. The Miss India 2013 finalist had also hosted The Telegraph Food Guide Awards recently
