Rajkumar Hirani’s Sanju, a biopic on actor Sanjay Dutt, stars Ranbir Kapoor as the titular character. Upon watching the teaser, it’s hard to tell who’s on screen – the real actor or the actor playing the actor.
The one-minute twenty-five seconds teaser is pacy, with vignettes of the different versions of Sanjay Dutt (reminding you that it’s actually Ranbir Kapoor with terrific makeup on) right from his drug addled days to his prison days.
What begins as something straight of a fun advertisement, we see Sanjay Dutt’s avatar keep changing, his moppy mullet during the 80s and 90s, his French beard during the early 2000s, his blonde highlights during the Munnabhai days, and finally his present look – a receding hairline, a moustache with grey stubble.
He is the narrator in the teaser, talking about how he’s had over 300 girlfriends, had the most powerful weapon in his possession, snorted drugs so often, and basically faced a life that had him beg on streets as well as stay in the most luxurious hotels of New York.

When talks of the biopic were out, most predicted that the film would probably be a more watered down version of the actor’s tumultuous life. However, the teaser spells otherwise. Like he says, “Fasten on your seatbelts, we have turbulence ahead.”
The film also stars Paresh Rawal as Sunil Dutt, Manisha Koirala as Nargis Dutt, Anushka Sharma, Sonam Kapoor, Dia Mirza, Vicky Kaushal, Jim Sarbh and Boman Irani. The film is produced by Vinod Chopra Films and Rajkumar Hirani Films in association with Fox Star Studios.
