Rakhi Sawant Slams the CBFC; Says “I am not a porn star like Sunny Leone”

Model-actress Rakhi Sawant, at a recent press meet, slammed the Central Board Of Film Certification (CBFC) and its chairman Pahlaj Nihalani for awarding her upcoming film ‘Ek Kahaani Julie Ki‘ an A certificate. The 37-year-old actress fumed, “I will get inside Pahlaj Nihalani’s house and pull him down from his chairman’s chair. If he doesn’t know anything he should resign and I will sit at his place, I think I can do the job better, at least I’ll not be biased and categorize producers according to their banners”. Reportedly, the film was initially given a U/A and was later changed to an ‘A’

She said that CBFC took money from big production banners to give them a U or U/A certificate, and took advantage of their position by giving grief to the smaller producers.

“They deny us a U certificate just because we did not give them money, or because the film has Rakhi Sawant in it. I guess they have issues that an item girl has managed to become a heroine. They have all lost their minds. I’m country’s daughter, a Bollywood star” she added.

Rakhi Sawant said she would fight against the CBFC’s decision and that she has made an appeal at the Bombay High Court to take action against the board’s decision. However, she said the movie will follow its scheduled release date despite all the issues. Directed by Aziz Zee, Ek Kahaani Julie Ki also features new comers Amit Mehra, Jimmy Sharma and Saniya Pannu in important roles.

Sawant also took at dig at adult film star turned Bollywood actor Sunny Leone.

“I have not come from abroad and I am not a porn star. They issued a U/A cerificate to Sunny Leone’s EK Paheli Leela which had nudity, obscenity and filthy scenes. I am struggling from the last 12 years in the industry and have no adult content in the movie, still we are sitting with an A certificate,” she said.

This is not the first time Sawant has openly spoken against Sunny Leone. Earlier this year, when a journalist compared her to Leone, Sawant hit back saying that she achieved popularity through dance performances and reality shows and not porn. She expressed her displeasure at being compared to Leone and said she is rather like Jennifer Lopez and Madonna.

She later said “People in India have made a porn star their God. Now I have to protect the women of India.”

Leone had dismissed these comments saying she does not care about unprofessional comments.
