Rajkummar Rao To Play Subash Chandra Bose In A Miniseries

Rajkummar Rao

Rajkummar Rao will play another character based on real-life figures. This time, he will become Netaji Subash Chandra Bose, for a miniseries to be produced by Ekta Kapoor.

TOI reports that the miniseries is based on untold incidents from Bose’s life, and will portray the leader of the independent, Indian National Army as a rebel, a contemporary hero. Hansal Mehta is part of the production, as a creative head but will not be directing. The script draws from recently declassified files about Subash Chandra Bose and, according to Hansal Mehta, “It’s not a stale biopic, narrated in a boring manner. The platform caters to a young audience, who is neither patient nor interested in history. The script is so well-written that the show will feel like an edgy thriller running into episodes.”

In an interview to HT, Rajkummar Rao says he is scared to play the role. “I am too scared right now. I have to finish Behen Hogi Teri and then get right into that zone to seriously start preparing for it. It is a huge responsibility to play Netaji.” Rajkummar Rao had earlier played Shahid Azmi, the Defence Lawyer who was instrumental in the repeal of the Prevention of Terrorism Act, which was often abused by the police and lawmakers.

Currently, Rajkummar is shooting for Behen Hogi Teri, and will begin research for his role as Netaji. He also has Newton, a story of an election officer, coming up.
